Divine Timing Part 3: The Dream

After eighteen years in the same house, a letter from our landlord suddenly changed everything. We were facing the possibility that we would have to move.

Then George's mother offered to help us with the down payment on a home.

We decided to accept her incredibly generous offer, and for the first time, buying a house wasn't just something George and I talked about wishing we could do.

We were actually going to try.

And then I had the dream.

It was around April 23rd.

In the dream, I was looking down from above the roof of a house. I don't know exactly how I got there, but I felt as though I was floating above it. I was aware of a tree nearby, although I don't remember exactly where I was in relation to it.

The house below me was light in color, and I distinctly remember seeing the shingles on the roof.

There was open land around the house, but it wasn't flat. The landscape was surrounded by rocky hills and mountains.

In the distance, I could see a wild horse. Closer to the house, off to my left on a slope, was a smaller horse. I remember wondering if perhaps it was the baby of the wild horse I could see farther away.

At one point, the younger horse seemed to turn into a donkey.

I didn't understand that part then.

Then I looked down again and saw a Native man below me. He was dressed in suede clothing with fringe and moccasins and held a rope in his hand. He was saying something to me, although I don't remember the words.

Then he pointed to my right.

I looked in the direction he was pointing, and there, on another hill to the right of the house, was the wild horse. As I watched, it reared up on its hind legs.

I had the distinct feeling that the Native man wanted me to catch it.

And then I woke up.

I knew immediately that the dream had something to do with finding our home. I also knew that the Native man in the dream was one of my guides.

And the message seemed just as clear.

Go for it.

Catch the horse.

At that point, I didn't know what our future house looked like. I didn't know where it was or how we were going to get there. But the dream didn't feel like a random dream about a house.

It felt as though something was calling me toward a home I hadn't found yet.

Other places were suggested to us. Family encouraged us to consider places like Hemet and Banning. I understood why. We looked at the possibilities, but when it came to finding a home with the amount of land we wanted, the prices were much higher for much less land.

But somehow, I kept coming back to Apple Valley.

It was one of the places where we had a better chance of finding both the home and the land we were looking for within our budget.

Around this same time, my longtime friend Megan had read the newsletter I had written about what was happening with our home.

Megan and I had known each other for many years. She originally came into my life as a student when I was teaching The Mechanics of Mediumship, and over the years, we became friends.

She was also a Realtor.

For years, I had always said that if I ever bought a house, I was going to call Megan.

The funny thing was, I never really believed I would buy one.

Owning a home had always seemed like one of those things that might be nice someday, but not something I genuinely expected would happen for us.

Megan knew what was happening because she had read my newsletter, but she didn't call and try to convince me to let her help us.

Later, she told me that she had intentionally waited.

She wanted me to come to her if I wanted her help.

And that's exactly what I did.

After all those years of saying, If I ever buy a house, I'm calling Megan, the day finally came when I picked up the phone and did just that.

I still didn't know where that search would lead us.

I didn't know how difficult parts of it were going to become.

And I certainly didn't know just how familiar the place waiting for us would one day feel.

Have you ever had a dream that stayed with you because it felt different from an ordinary dream? Maybe you understood something about it immediately, or maybe its meaning only became clear much later.

Sometimes we don't understand where we're being led until we arrive.
